The prearranged vehicle will pick you exactly at 6.30 am from Bangalore and kick start your heritage ride. Your first halt for the day is at Srirangapatna which encloses both of Sultan’s reminiscences and remains.
Srirangapatna is a momentous island surrounded by river Kaveri, 15 kms distant from Mysuru. This town is of great religious, historic and cultural significance of the legends. Mysuru and Srirangapatna are the couple cities that narrate the chronicles of the Sultan’s saga. The prominent sites to be traversed in Sriangapatna during the trip are as follows:
Sri Ranganathaswamy Temple- is the abode of Lord Ranganatha (the avatar of Lord Vishnu). Such is his magnitude, that the town’s name- Srirangapatna derives after this mighty deity.
Srirangapatna Fort- well known as Tipu’s fort, is a work of art dated way back to 15th century. This gigantic monument used to be the major defence headquarters of the Sultan. Evidently this robust structure was the strongest fort of times.
Gumbaz Burial Chamber- is the final resting place of the Sultan along with his parents, Hyder Ali and Fakr- Un- Nisa. After Tipu’s demise in the Siege of Srirangapatna, he was buried in the Gumbaz beside his parents.
The Water Gate- is the archway leading to the rivulet Kaveri, adjacent to the northern side of the fort wall. This gate is implicit to be the fatal Gateway through which the British troops charged in to attack the Sultan. This gate served the source to fetch water for the subjects of Tipu.
Daria Daulat Bagh (AKA as Tipu’s Summer palace)- was Tipu’s summer condo with lush green gardens and fountains. Some even described it to be the “Envy of the heaven” and “Abode of Happiness”. The palace also displays the Sultan’s preserved clothing, accessories, weapons and other Knick knacks.
Jumma Masjid E-Alam- is a double minaret mosque constructed by the Sultan in 1784. This glorious edifice is a fusion of both Islamic and Hindu architecture. Tipu himself prayed amidst these walls during his reign.
After bisecting the alluring wonders of Srirangapatna, the trip shall further proceed to Mysuru. The drive from Srirangapatna to Mysuru is approximately 30 minutes.

Chamundi Hills- the peak with 1000 metres elevation, houses the temple of Goddess Chamundi. She is the beloved guardian Goddess protecting the realm of the Mysore Royals.
